Volunteering is a Great Way to ConnectMinimize

We are so fortunate to have a large, varied school population with many backgrounds, skills, talents and personalities.  If you have an idea that could benefit our school, please let us know or find a committee that could benefit.  Volunteer opportunities can be ongoing, monthly, or even one time events.

Offering your support through time, talent, and other means is a great way to help the school and your child - and a chance to meet other parents. Here are some ways to learn about volunteer oportunties:

  • Attend the Welcome Coffee Hour on the first day of school.
  • Watch for information about volunteer opportunities in the weekly Coe Communicator (e-news).
  • Contact your child's assigned room parents
  • Talk to your child's teacher about helping in the classroom.
  • Talk to the Coe PTA Volunteer coordinator at volunteer@coepta.org

Room Parents are core!Minimize

Room Parents are the very core of our volunteers.  They are a team of parents, grandparents and/or guardians that provide loving care for our children and teachers.  Room Parents are organizers, recruiters, party planners, cooks, crafters, and a lot more.  Here is a basic list of Room Parents duties:

   1. Coordinate classroom's parents.  Create a classroom roster with names, addresses and email addresses. Flag any special food allergies or special needs.
   2.  Assist teacher in planning Class parties & events.  This includes getting all the parent volunteers needed, as well as any food, supplies and activities.  This will involve soliciting money and/or supply donations from families.
   3.  Science Kits.  Pre & Post inventory of Science Kits for classroom.
   4.  Organize classroom participation in PTA sponsored activities.

If you are currently or have been a Room Parent.....Thank you for all your hard work and volunteering efforts!  If not, please consider being a Room Parent for your child's classroom.  It's a wonderful way to model responsibility, generosity, volunteerism, and compassion.
